Becoming a Notary Entrepreneur
In 1998, at the ripe young age of 19, I was working at a shoe store selling shoes. On August 17th, while at work, I was up on a tall ladder putting boxes of shoes back in the mini warehouse we had. In a split second I lost my footing and began to slip off the ladder. I tried to grab the ladder to keep myself up, but my high school class ring got caught on one of the vertical rail hooks used to readjust the shelves. As I fell, the pressure of my weight and the ring pulled on my finger and damaged it to the point where surgeons decided it had to be amputated. I had lost my right, middle finger.
A few months later, after having issues with the company not paying a medical bill, I no longer had my old job to come back to.
I was so angry, I decided I'd never work for anyone else again. I began to look into all sorts of businesses and decided to become a notary.
A few months later I got my notary commission and received that beautiful, shiny stamp we all get. For a whole year after that, my stamp hibernated in my drawer and I did nothing with it.
I was still working at another job I didn’t like and I still had the desire to work for myself. “What was missing?” I wondered.
I was not behaving like a Notary Entrepreneur.
Then, I met a successful notary who was willing to share with me how she was making money as a notary
I met with her for about an hour. She explained the different ways she made money as a notary and how I could get started. She gave me a few resources and a starting point.
This was all I needed to start my now 20+ year notary career. It's what got me started down the path to becoming a Notary Entrepreneur. By the way, if you would like to hear my full story, listen to the first episode of my podcast, "Notary Business Talk."
So what does it mean to be a Notary Entrepreneur?
A Notary Entrepreneur is an individual who has turned his or her notary commission into a profitable, successful business. They are not afraid to ask for help and invest in themselves. Notary Entrepreneurs create a business that revolves around themselves and the people they love.
They focus on quality of life and their efforts/resources are directed on finding ways of doing and making more with less time and effort. As a result, Notary Entrepreneurs live a balanced life. They give time to the things that are important, like their family, their health, and personal growth; while at the same time growing their business and income with the goal of living a great life.
But if you’re just getting started, you’ll need help. And just like I was given a hand by someone who was already a successful Notary Entrepreneur, I want to do the same for others.
The first step is to decide you’re going to take your notary business seriously.
This means being prepared to seek out and invest in others who can help you become successful.
It wasn’t until I made the decision to take my business seriously that things began to change.
Today, I've been able to build a successful notary business that allows me to make a full-time living working part-time hours. I now have the kind of free time I only dreamed of when I worked a full-time job and I enjoy a great quality of life.
Now I’m guessing you're here because you’re in the early stages of your notary career the same way I was; perhaps on a similar journey. The details may be different, but the theme is the same. And like me, you're seeking help to get you to the next level.
If this is true, then welcome, because the goal of this website is to help you become a successful Notary Entrepreneur.
After two decades of notary business experience, I've decided to take everything I've learned and become a teacher; to help those eager to do something great in their life through this profession by showing them there is a better, easier way to live and enjoy life by working for yourself.
On this website you're going to find useful information and resources that will help you take the next steps on your notary business journey.
If you're brand new, I recommend you begin by looking into becoming a Loan Signing Agent (LSA). This is the best place to start as a notary, in my opinion.
A great place to learn how to begin your notary career is my podcast. Here I give you ideas, strategies and techniques on growing your notary business along with stories, notary related news, my personal and business philosophy, and additional income opportunities that seem to go well with a notary business.
